Mikaela Sterjovski is a final year environmental engineering student at RMIT University who is passionate about contaminated land and groundwater. Shadha Al-Mashari is a final year environmental engineering student at RMIT University who is enthusiastic about groundwater and land contamination nationally and internationally. Matthew Currell is a professor of hydrogeology based in the School of Engineering at RMIT University, where he coordinates the undergraduate environmental engineering program.
Presentation Details
The baseline concentrations, fate, and transport of PFAS in groundwater remain largely un-researched in the context of Victorian coastal aquifers in Australia. This study has worked in partnership with EPA Victoria to better understand the occurrence and behavior of these important emerging contaminants, and how they may impact the health of local coastal marine bodies. To create a sustainable future for Australia, the potential for PFAS contaminants to migrate through groundwater must be thoroughly understood to minimise the impact on local communities and industries.
