Presentation Details
PFAS compounds are now an established contaminant of concern at many industrial sites due to its persistence in soil and groundwater. PFAS’s stable properties prevent it from degrading in the environment. It is also highly soluble in groundwater and able to travel long distances towards sensitive receptors where it can build up in the environment including fauna and flora. Unfortunately, these properties make PFAS very difficult to remediate and till recently, no in-situ solutions were available and therefore remediation typically consists of invasive excavation of soils or lengthy pump and treat remediation, both very costly.
