Presentation Bio

Legacy industrial contamination can become a burden on local communities when the polluter no longer exists. Lake Macquarie City Council has implemented a sustainable solution to assist local residents impacted by lead contamination from the former Pasminco Cockle Creek Smelter in Boolaroo, NSW – a Standard Remedial Action Plan (RAP). The Standard RAP streamlines the approach for the assessment of soil contamination when residents submit a Development Application and reduces the cost of the development assessment process. Use of a Standard RAP could be a template for other communities impacted by legacy industrial contamination.
