A Bit About Mitchell
Mitchell is a fourth and final year Bachelor of Environmental Engineering student at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. His honours thesis has been spent investigating legacy contamination of chlorinated dioxins in Homebush Bay.
Presentation Details
The production of Agent Orange on the Rhodes Peninsula has left a long standing history of contamination by dioxins in Homebush Bay and the Rhodes Peninsula. An effort to clean up in 2010 was successful, however significant contamination still remains. Mitchell has investigated the use of bioremediation as a more sustainable and non-intrusive remediation method for the residents of Rhodes, working with microbial communities to help clean up the past.
