A Bit About Peter
Orica
Environmental Project Lead
Presentation Details
Peter is an experienced Environmental Project Lead working in corporate, consulting and government sectors across a wide variety of projects for nearly 30 years. Since joining Orica in 2004 Peter has been involved in project managing environmental projects at chemical manufacturing sites in Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Germany, China and South America. In addition to this Peter is an Environmental Advisor reporting directly to senior management of an Orica joint venture. As a world first Peter managed the successful implementation of a customised blast protection system for a remote operated dozer at a former nitroglycerine plant as part of a large environmental investigation. Peter has also been involved with providing support to operational sites, undertaken community consultations, involved with acquisitions and divestments, flora and fauna studies, explosive safety plans, rehabilitation plans, cultural heritage management plans and planning permits. Prior to joining Orica Peter worked in environmental consulting conducting soil and groundwater contamination investigations, remediations and auditing. Peter has also completed two secondee roles one with the Department of Defence as Victoria's Environmental Officer in 2000 and the second as a Hydrogeologist in 1996 with the Power and Water Authority in the Northern Territory.
This presentation represents a world first attempt to investigate a former nitroglycerine manufacturing facility using a remotely operated D10 dozer with a customised blast protection shell. The design and implementation of the works required a team effort across a range of very different skill sets.
